
Hoffmann’s Woodpecker
The Hoffmann’s Woodpecker (Melanerpes hoffmannii) is a small to medium-sized woodpecker commonly found in Costa Rica.
It is well known for the rhythmic drumming sound it produces when pecking on tree trunks.
It also excavates cavities in trees, which it later uses for nesting.
