Blue-gray Tanager
The Blue-gray Tanager is a beautiful bird belonging to the tanager family (Thraupidae). It is characterized by its delicate blue-gray plumage, with slightly brighter wings and small dark markings that highlight its elegant appearance. In Costa Rica it is popularly known as ‘viudita’.
This species feeds mainly on fruits, small insects, and nectar, which is why it frequently visits gardens, fruit trees, and coffee farms where food is abundant.
Around Café Bosque Alto, it can often be seen perched among the coffee plants and trees of the forest, bringing color and life to the landscape. Its presence is part of the natural balance that accompanies coffee grown in harmony with nature.
